Carrot (Beta-carotene, Fibre)

Carrots have exceptionally high levels of beta-carotene and this is why the saying that carrots help us see in the dark is indeed true. Your child’s body converts beta-carotene (which is only found in plant foods) into vitamin A. As well as having potent antioxidant qualities, vitamin A is needed for healthy skin and vision and a deficiency symptom is night blindness. Carrots are also high in fibre, which is important for the health of your child’s bowel and digestive system. The therapeutic attributes of carrots have been well documented through the centuries. Pureed carrot has been shown to relieve diarrhea in babies, whereas raw carrots can ease constipation both in children and adults.
